I replied to a tweet that a reporter friend shot into the universe.

I didn’t realize what was happening in that moment, but a community was finding a space to share; to mourn a loss that many didn’t realize was so wide felt.

I’m grateful to Hannah Natanson for speaking with me and including parts of the poem “And Counting”. This has been a healing experience for me and I appreciate the chance to have my voice heard in these times of transition.

Columbia Hospital for Women, which provided groundbreaking maternity care to generations of women, is still missed 17 years after closing its doors.
