Shadowcast

There are times when I’m lonely
And all I want is someone to brush against me
To feel contact on bare skin.
I don’t need to know you,
For us to know each other
Lest you know me.
It comesĀ in the dark
Stepping over clutter to hunker down in my chest,
Echoing off empty cavities.
It feels like unanswered messages
Tastes like bitter memories.
Loneliness wraps plans in wet blankets,
Is the only lover I know.
