A Dejected Muse Advises A Reluctant Poet

and don’t erase
the next line may be the one
the high — chased
and the crash will be just as mighty

a majestic title
poet
to scribble futile notes
in fruitful times

it is what it is

and don’t erase
regret never changed life’s course
and you are a soothsayer
finding truth in the fragile
being agile in an unforgiving nook
bookending every turn of phrase with a prayer

peace be unto thee of broken heart and stature
hope wants not a bold ego — but a vessel to mend

a prayer for the meek
a line for the chasers
hope the broken
and not erased.
